On a typical workday, activity begins at 7:30am and wraps up at 4:00pm. The superintendent is responsible for making sure that every minute of that workday is as productive as possible by vetting the plans for constructability issues, getting our trade partners the information they need before they begin work, and directing our in-house crews and the trades on the jobsite during the workday.

An effective superintendent has the knowledge and ability to field construction issues as they arise, communicate clearly with the personnel on site, along with the Project Manager and design team as necessary. They also have the ability to work with the Project Manager to plan out each work week in detail and assist with updating of the 3 week look ahead and overall project schedule.

Our ideal superintendent candidate can balance a hybrid role involving both Superintendent and Project Management responsibilities for mid-size projects.

Key duties include but are not limited to the following:

• Regularly assist PM with input for weekly meetings with design team, client and consultants
• Regularly assist PM with generating accurate short term look ahead schedule.
• Provide PM with input on overall project schedule
• Maintain weekly schedule of tasks with a daily breakdown of tasks
• Ability and experience to work with all construction trades on the jobsite
  • Has basic knowledge of other trades’ requirements and sequencing and is expanding upon this knowledge.
  • Able to determine, understand and effectively communicate to subordinates and other employees the needs and requirements to accomplish tasks or projects.
• Responsible for making sure that rough and finish layouts are correct for all trades.
  • Knows what will be required in the ways of tools and / or materials and how to obtain pricing on all portions of the work.
  • Understands the fabrication and installation of framing and finish carpentry work
• Input daily logs and photos into Procore by the end of each workday
• Coordinate all necessary inspections
• Maintain jobsite safety at all times
  • Knows safe scaffold building techniques as well as safe procedures for trenching, fall protection, saws, and electrical cords.
• Manage Giffin & Crane onsite labor
• Lead communications with clients, consultants, trades, vendors, and Giffin & Crane team (preferred)
• Work with onsite team and office-based operations team to manage the project budget, sub/vendor commitments, and invoices (preferred)
• Proactively manage scope and schedule changes (preferred)
• Maintain long term project schedule and short term, “look ahead” schedules (preferred)
• Manage Project Documentation (preferred)
• Manage Shop Drawings, RFIs, and Submittals (preferred)
• Coordinate and lead weekly project meetings with design team and client. Document all meeting minutes (preferred)
• Ensure daily logs and photos are uploaded into Procore daily (preferred)

This position requires a driven individual with a passion to build and the ability to work in a team atmosphere.

The Sr. PM requires very little direction from the Principals and works closely with owners, consultants, the onsite construction teams and our office-based operations team to manage the project scope, budget, schedule, commitments, communication, and documentation while ensuring a high quality build and maintaining a safe jobsite. The Sr. PM is able to coordinate and run multiple projects simultaneously and concurrently from start to finish. • Able to coordinate and run multiple projects simultaneously and concurrently from start to finish
• Has keen “counselor” sales skills (i.e., listening, note taking, providing choices, educating, etc.) exhibited in dealing with potential clients.
• Understands the sequence of the sales, bidding, estimating, proposal management and construction work process.
• Able to effectively direct the work of multiple Superintendents and Project Managers.
